We had an amazing first day of school! The students were on task and well behaved; I am excited for a great year ahead! I promised I would post my "Who is Ms. Tarket?" presentation. Check it out at

Now that we have met one another and gone over the basics, I am excited to get to work tomorow!

Welcome to 4th Grade 2017/18

Welcome to your new classroom;
          My name is Ms. Tarket and I will be your teacher for 4th grade! I am excited to meet you and look forward to all the great things we will do this year.  I want to let you know about a few important dates coming up.  On August 8th from 2:00-5:00 bring your parents for “Meet the Teacher.”  You’ll get a chance to see where the room is and where your seat is.
          August 9th is the first day of school!  Don’t forget we no longer have late start on Wednesday, so be at school by 8:00 in the morning.  On Fridays we will have early release at 1:30 in the afternoon.
          You won’t need any specific supplies for class, everything is provided, but donations are always appreciated!  We can always use tissues and hand sanitizer.
          I look forward to meeting you!
                              Sincerely,
                              Ms. Tarket

Ms. Tarket's Summer Learning!

What did you do during the summer of 2017? I visited many great and fun places, but I also went to school! I learned an amazing amount, especially about different aspects of physics. Physics is the study of how things in the universe interact with one another.  We learned about speed, velocity, and acceleration.

We learned by reading, making rockets, and using reasoning to understand concepts.

Take a look at some of our rockets!

We also had to research how to launch a probe to Mars, how to land it, and how to power it once it landed.

We even researched rockets launch sites.

Check out what Ms.James and I discovered about a launch site in Guiana:

What is all this learning for? So I can learn how to be a better teacher and have a deeper understanding of scientific concepts. I learned about Newtons first and second laws. Newton's First Law states,"
An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
